LG Unveils Stunning ‘Transparent’ OLED TV at CES 2024, a Masterpiece in Design
What if we told you that you can soon buy an OLED TV that you can see through, just like you see through glass? This is exactly what LG plans to bring to consumers this year. While transparent panels aren’t new and we’ve seen them over the years, LG’s OLED Signature T OLED TV looks to make this technology more widely available.
This announcement comes a day before the Consumer Electronics Show 2024 (CES 2024) in Las Vegas, USA. The TV is a massive 77 inches and has a transparent contrast layer on the front of the OLED panel. If you pull down the layer with the remote control, the TV will become transparent, providing users with a unique and novel experience.
The TV uses a custom LG WebOS TV operating system that is compatible with the new hardware. It also runs on LG’s Alpha 11 AI processor, which improves image quality and makes transitioning between black and transparent modes easier.
In addition to the T-bar feature that displays various information such as weather, time and more, the Signature T OLED TV can also be transformed into an art display. In addition, this TV uses the LG Zero Connect Box to play content wirelessly.
While it’s not clear when the LG Signature T OLED TV will be released, LG has announced that the transparent TV will be released globally “later this year,” according to Yonhap News. As for the price, it is expected to be quite expensive as it is a new technology. Like other LG flagships like its rollable offerings, we can expect it to be priced at a significant premium.
