Mastodon Experiences Increase in Sign-Ups After Twitter’s Weekend Turmoil
Over the weekend, Eugen Rochko, the CEO of Mastodon, announced that the decentralized social media platform experienced a significant increase of 294,000 active users.
Rochko posted on Monday: “So weekend recap: Active users on Mastodon up by 294,000 and broadcast activity roughly tripled.”
“Lots of new signups, but also many returning users. Fun times!”
In March of this year, the platform announced that it exceeded more than 10 million registered accounts.
Meanwhile, last week the company announced a new Mastodon for Android update with a complete Material You overhaul.
The new update allows users to hide boost/favorite counters, remind themselves to add alt text to media uploads, change the default publishing language, hide all content warnings, and more.
The company also added filter management to the app. Users can now view, edit, and create filters for specific phrases or keywords, and customize how and where exactly the filters are applied.
Additionally, the platform added an option for users to temporarily pause all notifications.
