Meta to Introduce Multi-Persona AI Chatbot at Connect 2023
The rise of OpenAI’s ChatGPT has led to a significant increase in the popularity of generative AI chatbots. As a result, numerous tech companies, including Google, Microsoft, and Tencent, have been actively creating their own conversational bots. Meta Platforms, too, has a range of AI projects in progress, some of which might be revealed at its upcoming annual event, Meta Connect 2023, scheduled for September 27-28. According to reports, the company might introduce a new AI chatbot designed for younger users, which will have the ability to portray various personalities.
Meta’s new AI chatbot
Meta Connect 2023 will see the release of Quest 3, along with announcements of AI, VR, MR, AR, Meta Horizon Worlds, and Meta Avatars. The San Francisco-based tech giant could also use the opportunity to unveil a new generative AI chatbot called “Gen AI Personas,” according to a Wall Street Journal report. This chatbot would have multiple personas to chat with the younger generation.
This new AI chatbot aligns with the company’s previous AI goals. In a February Facebook post, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced that “we’re focused on developing AI personas that can help people in a variety of ways” as part of the company’s long-term strategy, revealing the formation of the top tier. -level product group in Meta.
According to leaker Alessandro Paluzzi’s previous post on X in July, Meta has reportedly tested up to 30 chatbot personas on Instagram. Now the company is presenting a multi-personality AI chatbot at its Connect 2023 event.
About Gen AI Personas
One persona is called “Bob the robot” and is a sudden robot based on Bending Unit 22, commonly known as Bender from the sitcom Futurama. According to internal company documents seen by the WSJ, this person has “superior intellect, sharp wit and biting sarcasm.” On the other hand, there is another extraterrestrial personality known as “Alvin the Alien” who is curious about human life.
According to the report, it has not been confirmed that Meta will launch the same personalities it is said to be testing, including a personality named Gavin who made misogynistic remarks in a conversation seen by the WSJ.
