Microsoft adds AI-generated stories to Bing search
Microsoft is adding “AI-generated stories” to some user searches on its Bing search engine as it adds GPT-based features to its products.
According to the company, Bing now creates AI-generated stories that give you multiple ways to consume “bit-sized information through text, images, video and audio.”
“Perfect for visual and auditory learners, Stories is available to all Bing users in English, French, Japanese, German, Spanish, Russian, Dutch, Italian, Portuguese, Polish and Arabic,” Microsoft said.
Stories are similar to the ones you see on social media like Instagram or Snapchat.
The company is also updating its “info cards” that appear on the right side of Bing’s search results page.
These are designed to help users explore topics of their interest through facts, image-based timelines, polls, actions and related topics.
“We’ve expanded the richness and scope of data cards supported by Bing using generative artificial intelligence,” the company said.
Additionally, the company has addressed some known issues with Bing Chat, including making it easier for users to copy chat text from the Bing mobile app on iOS.
It improves speech recognition in the Bing mobile app, so messages aren’t sent until users have spoken.
“We’re fixing cases where Bing search queries accidentally start a conversation with the same query when you scroll up,” the Microsoft team said.
