Microsoft To Discontinue Xbox Game Pass ‘Friends And Family’ Plan In August
Microsoft, the tech giant headquartered in the United States, has revealed its decision to discontinue the preview of the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate Friends and Family plan on August 15. The company has stated that current memberships will be terminated, and the Xbox Game Pass Friends & Family option will cease to exist.
The Xbox Game Pass Ultimate Friends and Family plan, priced at Rs 199 per month, allowed one subscription to be shared among up to five people. Each member of the plan received exclusive access to the entire Game Pass Ultimate library on Xbox and PC, EA Play and other benefits.
“On August 15, 2023, the Xbox Game Pass Friends & Family Preview Program will end as we review what we’ve learned over the past few months and explore how we can build an offering that we can launch globally. Thank you for your interest and participation in the Xbox Game Pass Friends & Family Preview Program. It’s been amazing to see our Game Pass Ultimate members share the fun of Game Pass with their friends and family,” the company said.
As of July 17th, primary account holders will no longer be able to add new members to their shared membership. Additionally, starting August 15th, the company will be giving out Xbox Game Pass Ultimate codes as a thank you for participating in the preview program to both primary and secondary members.
Codes must be redeemed with the Xbox account you used to participate in your current Xbox Game Pass Friends & Family membership. All participants in your group plan will also receive the same personal offer so you can continue playing together.
This preview program allows users to add up to four friends and family members, regardless of whether they live under the same roof or not. Everyone uses their own account and Xbox profile to save games, track achievements and receive personalized recommendations.
