New Rival Emerges for Google Photos, Ensuring Enhanced Photo Security
Android users have relied heavily on apps like Google Photos to capture and recreate their memories. In fact, some of the iPhone users prefer to use Google’s photo platform instead of Apple’s app. But now Android users have more reasons to consider using other apps to store their photos, especially since they promise better protection for your content.
Proton is a well-known email client that offers its users a high level of privacy, and now its own version of Google Drive is getting a new update that lets you automatically back up and manage all the photos on your phone.
Proton Drive is also an exception when it comes to providing end-to-end encryption for all files, which Google and Microsoft’s Drive platforms do not. Proton Drive gets a separate Photos tab where all your current and new photos/videos are automatically backed up, which didn’t happen before. The photo update is currently only available for Android users, and it’s likely that iPhone users will also get the option in the coming months.
The only major difference between Proton Drive and Google Drive is that the former only offers up to 1GB of free storage, which is not enough for anyone these days. The next viable option for consumers is to opt for the 200GB plan which costs $4.99 (roughly Rs. 400) per month and the 500GB plan costs $12.99 (roughly Rs. 1,040).
But some of you might agree that the added security benefits might be cheaper for the overall Proton Drive package. In comparison, Google Drive has a 100GB plan that costs Rs 130 per month, and iCloud for Apple users get 50GB of storage for $0.99 (roughly Rs. 83) and $2.99 (roughly Rs. 240) per month for 200GB with a package of
