Nokia confirms the news of a new clean design that will not come to smartphones
Nokia has announced a new design interface for the devices that has caught everyone’s attention and many people thought that we might soon get it working on Nokia Android phones. It turns out that the software is limited to Nokia’s business division, and HMD Global reportedly has no plans to use this interface on its smartphones.
The update will hardly come as a surprise, as the new Nokia logo related to corporate business has been used in the teaser visual of the new user interface. HMD Global is the main operator licensed to sell Nokia smartphones and is not affiliated with the business in any way.
“Nokia smartphones do not adapt the recently announced Nokia Pure design. The classic Nokia brand has an incredible history in mobile phones. Our Nokia phones continue the great momentum associated with the classic Nokia logo. We proudly build and innovate on this legacy,” HMD Global is quoted in this report.
The statement clearly says that Nokia phones will still have the old Nokia branding and the phone will run on stock Android software regardless of which version the company offers. Nokia has a wide range of smartphones and its business segment has enterprise products that will soon come with Pure Design UI.
The decision is intriguing, but you can understand the companies’ position. After all, HMD Global has nothing to do with Nokia’s business segment, and the use of the user interface is excluded from its license agreement with the Finnish company.
HMD Global has renewed its product strategy and continues to try its luck with new smartphones. The company recently launched a premium phone in the Indian market that focuses on durable materials and easy repair, but the specs couldn’t justify the price tag.
Stock Android is a unique feature of Nokia phones, but revamping the user interface is not a bad idea as the interest around the Pure Design user interface may have some impact on its market demand.
