The OnePlus foldable phone will probably hit the market in August
OnePlus is the next big brand to enter the foldable arena this year, and the company has already confirmed its launch plans for the third quarter. But so far we have not got a timeline for the month when the OnePlus Fold can be announced.
Now a reliable tipster suggests that the OnePlus Fold could be released in August, which is still three months away. OnePlus continues to expand its product ecosystem and now includes smart TVs, smartphones, headphones and even fitness wearables.
The company has played a similar trick with its Nord series as well. But the foldable’s arsenal is vital not only for the brand’s advancement, but also for mixing it up in a segment that has largely seen Samsung dominate. When it comes to pricing, OnePlus needs to be smart and try to undercut other offerings in the market, especially Samsung. As this is the first generation model, we expect the brand to gradually evolve with the finesse and polish of the product.
Google has also confirmed its entry into the segment with the Pixel Fold, which will be announced at Google I/O 2023 next week.
Oppo has the Find N2 Fold device (for now only in China) and you also have brands like Tecno looking to standardize the segment. OnePlus has been making a name for itself in the premium segment lately, but it will be interesting to see which route it takes with the OnePlus Fold. The Fold version will likely come with the OnePlus V Flip, as trademarked in China earlier this year.
OnePlus knows that India is a big market for its strategy, but even then, we expect the company to take a conservative approach and likely bring the OnePlus V Flip to compete with the likes of the Oppo Find N2 Flip and the Samsung Galaxy. Z Flip series.
