OnePlus Misinforms Users Regarding Specifications of Its New OnePlus 12R Smartphone
OnePlus recently launched the new 12 series, which also includes the OnePlus 12R, which was launched globally this year. The company shared a wide variety of details as well as phones that got people excited, especially the aggressively priced OnePlus 12R.
However, it seems that OnePlus managed to get one thing wrong in the newly launched phone that is likely to change people’s opinions or purchase decision. OnePlus has confirmed that the 12R version does not support the UFS 4.0 standard, but instead gets UFS 3.1 storage.
Kinder Liu, COO and president of OnePlus, has shared the change this week in the community. The company not only made a mistake during the release, but also mentioned the wrong UFS standard on its website.
So, how did OnePlus get it so wrong? The company thought it was using UFS 4.0 storage, but OnePlus has introduced the Trinity Engine, which works in software to improve memory and storage capacity, which many believed was due to using the latest storage standard.
Now that OnePlus has changed its tune, this means that people buying the OnePlus 12R will be buying a phone with UFS 3.1 storage instead of 4.0. That being said, UFS 3.1 is no slouch either, after all it’s available with the OnePlus 11 series, which means storage performance might not see a big drop. Liu assures that the UFS 3.1 storage will not limit the life of the phone, and would easily last 48 months (4 years) or more.
OnePlus understands that some of those who bought or pre-ordered the OnePlus 12R may be upset by the new development, and they have the opportunity to connect with the company’s customer team and look for a solution that will be beneficial to them either way.
