Pika Labs unveils Pika 1.0, an AI-powered video generator; Invites public to join waitlist for more information
The field of artificial intelligence is rapidly advancing. Recently, we witnessed the emergence of multimodal large language models (LLM) that could produce responses in both voice and images. Now, there are AI models that can even create videos based on basic text prompts. Initially, only one such AI model was available to the public through Runway, but now there is another option. Pika Labs, an AI company, has introduced its own AI video generator called Pika 1.0 and has made it accessible to the public by opening its waitlist.
The company announced its AI video tool at X, and in its post it showcased the features of the AI model in a short video. It said: “Introducing Pika 1.0, the idea-to-video platform that brings your creativity to life. Create and edit your videos with AI. Launching for new users online and on discord, starting today.”

The AI video generator can work with both text-to-video and image-to-video formats. This means you can give it a simple text prompt or image to create a new 3 second video. According to Pika, it can create videos in many different styles, including 3D, animation, cinematic, live-action, stop motion, and more.
In addition to creating a video, you can also use the tool to edit the created video. You can add a new prompt to improve the result or just apply the changes to a specific area of the video. This gives you detailed control over your video and how you want it to look. You can also extend the length of the video and add 4 seconds to it. You can also expand the frame and create more content to fill the frame automatically. You can also customize these elements with additional prompts.
“Video is at the heart of entertainment, but making high-quality videos is still complex and resource-intensive to date,” the company said in a blog post. “Our vision for Pika is to empower everyone to be the director of their own stories and bring out the creator in each of us,” it added.
Currently, to access the platform, you must register using your Google account or Discord account. After that, you will be put on a waiting list. When a position opens up, you will receive an email from the company where you can try out the AI video generator.
