Prepare for a Showdown between Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk
Although I haven’t watched a boxing match since the 2015 bout between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr., I would definitely be interested in watching if Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg were to face off on camera. It seems that I am not alone in this sentiment, as the idea of a fight between the two tech moguls is generating a lot of buzz on social media.
It all started when Musk reacted to a report about Meta’s Twitter competitor. Apparently, Meta’s product manager Chris Cox said that the company has “heard from developers and public figures who are interested in a sensibly managed platform.” Someone told him to be careful because Zuckerberg is doing jiu jitsu now. “I’m ready for a cage match if he is,” Musk replied. As reported by The Verge, Zuckerberg posted a screenshot of the exchange as a story on his Instagram account with the note: “Send me the location.”
Zuckerberg has been practicing Brazilian jiu-jitsu for about a year now, and his efforts have been well-documented — he even competed in a tournament in May, winning gold and silver medals. As for Musk, he said he has a great move called “Warrus” where he just lays on top of the opponent and does nothing. His suggested match venue? UFC Octagon in Las Vegas.
Because Musk Vs. Zuckerberg is the main event, ReturnByte editors have a few suggestions for undercard bouts. Satya Nadella vs. Sundar Pichai would be almost as interesting to see, especially now that Bing has finally become part of the conversation thanks to its AI chatbot. And then there’s Snap CEO Evan Spiegel and Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri, who could take the competition for mobile services into the octagon. As both Musk and Zuckerberg look for ways to monetize their platforms, the smart way is to broadcast the event as paid live streams on Twitter Blue and Meta Verified services. Of course, these are imaginary battles that are unlikely to happen, but we expect a juicy check as thanks for our ideas if they do happen.
