PS5 update simplifies access to multiplayer games

Sony has released a new system software update for PlayStation 5 users, making it easier to connect with fellow gamers. The update includes the ability to generate shareable links for inviting others to join multiplayer games, a feature that was initially announced in May.

The new PS5 update gives you a link in the app that can be shared with anyone, even if you’re not Playstation Network friends. A QR code will appear next to the link, but Sony warns that you may need to update some of your games for the new feature to work. One of the best things about this tool is that the invite is not immediately time dependent, so the link will drop the recipient into your game 10 or 30 minutes after it’s sent, as long as you’re still playing. If you post a link on Discord, a widget will appear to tell you if people are still playing or have dropped out.

Alongside the new sharing method is another update that allows you to unlock Game Help action cards via voice command. All you have to do is say “Show Game Help” and it should pop up. However, Voice Command (Preview) is currently only available in English for players in the US and UK with a PlayStation Network account.
