What Was The Reason Behind Tim Cook Not Wearing The Vision Pro ‘Headset’ At WWDC 2023?
During the WWDC 2023 event, Tim Cook, the CEO of Apple, revealed the company’s latest innovation, the Vision Pro, which he touted as the next breakthrough in personal technology. However, despite the hype surrounding the headset, neither Cook nor any of Apple’s top executives wore it during the presentation, raising questions about its actual potential.
Apple has – not even once – called Vision pro headphones. Apple likes to call the Vision Pro a space computer. Of course, no one forbids you to call them headphones, “Apple Ski Goggles” or Apple Glasses.
You might argue that Tim Cook wears glasses, and it can be difficult to adjust his headphones while performing a live demo on stage. But the strange thing is that if you caught the keynote at WWDC 2023, Tim Cook or other senior Apple executives were not seen using the Vision Pro. In fact, there isn’t a single picture of Tim Cook wearing headphones in public. Why so?
One reason may be Apple’s caution. Vision Pro is expensive and Apple promises a lot. Device startup is also controlled. It will be launched in the US next year and may be rolled out to other parts of the world after that, but gradually.
There isn’t one photo of Tim Cook wearing the headset in public. Why so?
Another aspect to consider is that Apple is trying to protect the Vision Pro brand image and of course the image of its executives. This launch is significant for Tim Cook, and Apple probably doesn’t want the Vision Pro headset to lead to an online memefest even before the product actually arrives.
Speaking of memes, whenever Apple launches a new product at its events, people seem ready to turn it into memes. Earlier jokes about kidneys quickly became “Cheesegrater Mac Pro”; There were memes about the dynamic island, and then of course the bendgate references and the “iPhone triple camera gas stove.”
Apple is always very particular about how it presents new products, the public image of its executives, and the image of the brand or products. So maybe he’s trying to avoid repeating the “Cheesegrater Mac Pro” cycle.
Apple just introduced the Vision Pro headphones. It will face a real product suitability test only next year when consumers will buy it in India for $3,499 or over Rs 3 lakh.
Apple Vision Pro: Do not touch, no photos
While the most exciting part of WWDC 2023 was Vision Pro’s “One More Thing…” announcement, the keynote speakers were a bit of a surprise. As with all Apple events, immediately after the keynote, attendees will go to the public display area to experience the latest Apple offerings. However, this time the participants were not allowed to touch the Vision Pro headset. Forget the headset, they weren’t even allowed to touch the table where the Vision Pro headset was displayed. Participants could click pictures from a distance using Vision Pro headsets. So actually, you won’t find a real picture of anyone using Vision Pro yet.
Apple created a completely separate demo area for the headset, where selected participants from the media, bloggers and other departments were flown in “secretly” to try out the Vision Pro. But guess what, they weren’t even allowed to take selfies with the Vision Pro. Apple doesn’t want to argue with Vision Pro right now.
