Reddit is rolling out new features to simplify sharing content on other platforms
Social discussion forum Reddit has launched new features that allow Redditors and publishers to share content on and off Reddit for both iOS and Android users.
In the past, when a user came across a post, discussion, or meme on Reddit, the company didn’t make it easy to send it to others.
However, the company is now making it easier for Redditors to quickly and easily share the Reddit content they love on other social platforms without compromising their Reddit identity.
“On Reddit’s iOS and Android apps, you can now find an updated ‘shared link’ preview for text messages that Redditors have shared via messaging services. The appearance of a shared post now includes a visual preview of the content, the subreddit name, and the total number of positives and comments,” Reddit said in a blog post.
This feature allows Redditors to share content directly from Reddit to Instagram Stories without having to take screenshots or upload content first.
In addition, Reddit users will get a new custom “share table” containing a Redditor’s most used sharing channels, which will appear when a user clicks the share icon below a post, making it easier to post without having to leave Reddit.
The company also introduced a one-tap screenshot sharing experience that allows users to share content without saving images to their device — meaning they can link back to the content instead of just sending a screenshot.
Additionally, Reddit introduced a new toolkit that makes it easier to display Reddit content on its own platforms, making it easier for publishers to share.
“This new toolkit includes easy-to-use self-service tools and features that clearly outline the predicted height of a post or comment, more clearly highlight the community from which the content originated, and display the total number of positives and comments,” Reddit stated.
Publishers can now also add a call to action to join the conversation.
