Report: Apple Raked in $1.65 Trillion from iPhone Sales Over the Past 10 Years
The iPhone is arguably Apple’s most successful product of all time, consistently generating significant revenue for the Cupertino-based tech giant over the years thanks to the considerable hype surrounding each new generation of these phones.
This fact has been consistently supported in several reports. However, a recent report from AltIndex reveals that Apple has generated a whopping $1.65 trillion from iPhone sales alone over the past decade.
In 2023, Apple will sell 235 million units, up from 153.4 million in 2013, a remarkable 53 percent increase. AltIndex reports: “Apple’s total iPhone sales over the past decade have been a whopping 2.3 billion. By comparison, its biggest competitor, Samsung, shipped 800 million more smartphones during that time.
These numbers come as no surprise considering how Apple beat Samsung to take the lead in global smartphone market share. In 2023, Apple overtook Samsung to become the world’s largest smartphone maker by market share, according to data from the International Data Corporation (IDC), marking the first change at the top in more than a decade.
This development is a direct result of its increased deliveries across the board. In the last quarter of 2023, Apple shipped a total of 80.5 million iPhones, which is 11.6% more than a year earlier.
IDC further claimed that Apple’s growth is primarily due to its growing popularity in emerging markets. “While we saw some strong growth from lower-cost Android players such as Transsion and Xiaomi in the second half of 2023 driven by rapid growth in emerging markets, the biggest winner is clearly Apple,” IDC said.
