Report: Meta’s Rival Twitter App Spotted on Google Play Store for a Short Time
According to The Verge, Alessandro Paluzzi, a developer known for uncovering hidden features in app code, recently tweeted that Meta’s app, similar to Twitter, has been made available on the Google Play store.
However, it seems that was a mistake as the app is now nowhere to be found.
Paluzzi also shared screenshots that revealed the interface elements of the app, including a login screen that allows users to log in with their Instagram accounts and another screen that lists the Instagram accounts they follow so they can choose who to follow. in chains.
According to the screenshots, Instagram’s Twitter-like blue checkmarks will also be available in the new app.
Since January, Threads has been developed on Meta under the name “Project 92”.
“We’ve heard from creators and public figures who are interested in a sensibly managed platform that they believe they can trust and rely on for distribution,” Meta’s Chief Product Officer Chris Cox said.
Cox also said the new app would be “our answer to Twitter.”
This app is the reason for the expected clash between Twitter owner Elon Musk and Meta Founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg.
