Samsung To Begin Manufacturing Laptops In India From October At Its Greater Noida Facility: Report

Samsung has already set up one of the most prominent smartphone manufacturing units in India and now reports suggest that the company is expanding the Greater Noida plant to start manufacturing laptops in the country.

The report also notes that Samsung could begin production in October. It’s likely that Samsung is enamored with the various incentives offered by the Indian government, and the recent push to restrict laptop imports could have prompted the company to change its laptop strategy in the country.

A Mint report suggests that the factory expansion will allow Samsung to manufacture around 70,000 laptops annually.

It is interesting that Samsung has decided to manufacture laptops in the country when most of its products are not even launched here. In fact, Samsung has only launched the last two Galaxy notebook models in the country and they are not very popular among consumers.

It is likely that Samsung will use the rumored unit to manufacture and export laptops to other markets. India is becoming the next production hub for big tech companies. Apple has already started planning its life outside of China, focusing on countries like Vietnam and India to gradually increase production.

The company has been manufacturing iPhones for many years now and it has reached a stage where the company can launch the new iPhone 15 models just a few days after its official launch worldwide.

Samsung could follow the same trajectory as it plans to use the resources available in India to expand production capacity and launch other products.

Samsung has recently launched its Galaxy Z Fold and Flip models, which are assembled in the country, but most of the components are still imported from different parts of the world, which brings a heavy load to the picture. Local manufacturing would definitely reduce the tax burden and provide consumers with a wide range of options.
