Samsung Galaxy S24 series selfie camera information revealed prematurely
Samsung’s forthcoming Galaxy S24 series, scheduled to launch in the following year, might not witness any enhancements in its front-facing camera. Although there are speculations that the Galaxy S24 Ultra will incorporate a 5x telephoto camera, replacing the 3x telephoto module found in its predecessor, it is reported that the selfie cameras on the Galaxy S24 Ultra, as well as the vanilla and Plus variants in the lineup, will remain unaltered in terms of hardware.
Dutch publication GalaxyClub reports that Samsung plans to keep the 12-megapixel selfie camera from the Galaxy S23 lineup for its Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra models. However, it is possible that the S24 series could still offer improved selfie features through software optimization.
On the plus side, Samsung is expected to continue using the Galaxy S23 Ultra’s impressive 200-megapixel sensor in the upcoming Galaxy S24 Ultra. In addition, charging speeds for the S24+ and S24 Ultra are likely to increase as the Korean company plans to introduce stacked battery technology, which could increase charging speeds from 45 watts to 65 watts. Unfortunately, the standard Galaxy S24 only sees a modest improvement, reaching up to 25W charging speed.
While selfie enthusiasts may be disappointed by the lack of a hardware update to the front cameras, Samsung’s software improvements could still improve the selfie performance of the Galaxy S24 series.
Integration of artificial intelligence technology
In addition to hardware updates, Samsung is also working on integrating artificial intelligence technology into the Galaxy S24 series. According to an Ice Universe advisor, the company is developing AI features specifically for this lineup. In particular, the AI technology is said to be different from Samsung’s virtual assistant Bixby, although the exact details of its implementation are still public.
Samsung’s approach to developing artificial intelligence
It’s worth noting that Samsung recently banned its employees from using generative AI tools like Bard and ChatGPT due to security risks, as stated in an internal memo. Nevertheless, the company has partnered with Naver Corporation to develop AI chips and tools. As part of this collaboration, Samsung will share semiconductor-related data with Naver, enabling the creation of generative AI technologies that Samsung will further improve.
As anticipation for the Galaxy S24 series builds, consumers are looking forward to learning more about the upcoming smartphones and the innovative AI technology that Samsung plans to introduce.
