Samsung works closely with Microsoft, Google for Generative AI: TM Roh
After Google and Microsoft, Samsung is also working on generative artificial intelligence technology. Samsung Global Head of Mobile Business Dr. TM Roh confirmed this development during a visit to Samsung India’s R&D facility in Bengaluru.
“Samsung has already incorporated device AI technologies into the camera, performance management and more. We are also actively working with Microsoft, Google and other new partners to develop generative AI technologies. Going forward, AI technology will play an important role in advancing the smartphone industry,” said Dr. TM Roh, Samsung Electronics Director and Mobile eXperience -business manager in response to a question during a media interaction.
“Thanks to ChatGPT, people’s general interest in AI has increased. We’ve been providing AI-based features on Samsung phones for a long time, and we’re already using our AI resources to boost WiFi and 5G connectivity on smartphones,” he said.

Dr. Roh joined Samsung in 1997, and in his current leadership role, he is responsible for driving innovation at Samsung. He is the youngest ever appointed president of Samsung. For more than 25 years, he played an important role in the development of some of Samsung’s most innovative and market-leading products, such as the Galaxy S, GalaxyNote, Galaxy Tab, Galaxy Book series, as well as the range of smartwatches and other wearables. He is also credited with bringing foldable smartphones into the mainstream with the Galaxy Z series.
