Sony May Launch An Xperia Flip Phone To Compete With Samsung And Moto
Sony may soon join the smartphone market by introducing its inaugural Xperia flip smartphone. Despite the considerable buzz surrounding the new Xperia device, the company intends to restrict its availability due to its previous withdrawal from several markets for business-related purposes.
Now, back to the Xperia flip phone rumours, the device is supposed to be the Xperia Flip and will likely borrow its design cues from the likes of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 or the Moto Razr 40 Ultra.
But the similarities may end there, as Sony is expected to offer a 7-inch internal display that supports 4K resolution, which is hard to imagine with this form factor, especially due to battery limitations. Sony’s screen could get a 21:9 aspect ratio, making it wider than what the likes of Samsung offer on a flip device.
However, these features are unlikely to make the Xperia Flip stand out from the flipping crowd. According to reports, Sony could tap into its gaming prowess and include some features aimed at gamers.
Either way, we can’t wait to see what Sony has in store and if the Xperia flip phone manages to carve out a space for itself in the premium segment. Sony and Apple are big brands that have yet to dive into the market with foldable products, but that may change in the near future. Google has the Pixel Fold, but it still doesn’t have a flip model, which was likely canceled due to technical reasons.
