Sony PlayStation 5 Reaches 40 Million Units Sold
On Thursday, Sony Group Corp’s gaming division announced that it has successfully sold over 40 million PlayStation 5 consoles, attributing this achievement to the resolution of supply chain challenges.
“It took months for supply chains to normalize so we had inventory to keep up with demand,” Sony Interactive CEO Jim Ryan wrote in a blog post.
“Now the PS5 supply is well stocked, and we see that pent-up demand is finally being met.”
The Japanese tech and entertainment company has said it will sell 25 million PS5 units this year, which would be a record for any PlayStation device.
Sony’s latest console is outselling the PS4 console, said Ampere Analysis analyst Piers Harding-Rolls.
