How to take screenshot on iPad without home button
As with the latest iPhones, most of the latest iPad models, such as the iPad mini, do not have a home button. So how do you take a screenshot? You can still use the iPad’s physical buttons for this: press the power button and either volume button at the same time. The screen will flash and a screenshot preview will appear in the lower left corner of the screen.
Tap the preview to edit the image and work from there. Otherwise, you can find the screenshot in the Photos app.
How to take a screenshot with the home button
Older iPads have a physical home button, so taking a screenshot on these devices is a little different. Press the power and home buttons at the same time, the screen will flash and the screenshot will appear in your Photos app.
Taking a screenshot with AssistiveTouch
There is also a way to take a screenshot on iPad without using buttons. Go to Settings > Accessibility > Touch and enable Assistive Touch. Click Double Tap and Customize setting to take a screenshot. A virtual home button appears on the right side of the screen. Tap the button twice quickly to take a screenshot.
Bonus for Apple Pencil users
Take a screenshot by swiping up from the bottom left corner of the screen with Apple Pencil. The edit menu will automatically open and from there you can mark and annotate the image with a pen using a variety of brush options. Tap Done and Save to finish editing.
