Twitter Blue Subscribers Can Soon Access Downloadable Videos
X, the formerly known micro-blogging platform Twitter, has announced that blue tick users will now have the ability to download videos shared by other subscribers. Moreover, all newly uploaded videos on this social media platform will be eligible for downloading.
The social media company owned by Elon Musk has updated the help center article titled “Share and watch videos on Twitter.” In this update, the company confirmed that Blue subscribers can now download videos.
Twitter has introduced an age limit for uploading videos on its platform. Users under the age of 18 cannot use the download option. Also, if the uploader of the video bans downloads, others will not be able to download it. Private accounts
A Twitter Blue subscription does not allow users to view or download videos unless permission has been granted by the paid subscriber. Users with a paid subscription can selectively enable video downloads, but the process for removing individual tweet downloads was not specified in the company’s update.
Twitter recently introduced a feature that allows Twitter Blue users to upload videos up to two hours long. However, this has caused problems for the company as some users have uploaded entire movies to the platform. This could potentially lead to legal issues for Twitter if it does not implement moderation features to handle copyrighted material.
In related news, Twitter (now X) is asking brands to spend at least $1,000 a month on ads to maintain its verified status — a gold checkmark — on the microblogging platform. Starting August 7th, advertisers who haven’t met certain spend thresholds will lose their official brand account verification, The Verge reports.
It was first reported by The Wall Street Journal. According to the report, in order to retain the gold check mark, which indicates that the account belongs to a verified brand, brands must have spent at least $1,000 on ads in the previous 30 days or $6,000 in the previous 180 days.
