Union Minister Announces Regulations to Safeguard Digital Citizens in India with AI
Following a meeting between ChatGPT creator and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and PM Narendra Modi in New Delhi, Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar has declared that India will be implementing regulations for artificial intelligence (AI). The minister cited the need to safeguard “digital citizens” from potential AI-related hazards as the reason for the regulation. Chandrasekhar made the announcement during a presentation on India’s digitalisation progress over the past nine years under the leadership of PM Modi.
The minister also expressed concern over toxic behavior and criminal elements on the Internet and said the government remains committed to protecting citizens and preventing the activities of such wrongdoers.
