Unlock New Possibilities – Threads Launches Mobile Web Version!
Threads users have reason to celebrate as the platform recently introduced its mobile web browser version, marking a noteworthy milestone. The announcement, delivered by a Threads team member, has generated enthusiasm among users seeking a more flexible experience. Initial testing revealed that logging in from Chrome on iOS was effortless, while Safari posed a temporary obstacle. Nevertheless, users remain hopeful that any technical issues will be promptly resolved.
One user expressed his excitement about this new feature on the platform: “I’m glad that using Threads via a mobile browser is an option at all. I find it better to log into social media services via the mobile network instead of downloading the app,” The Verge reported.
The long-awaited online version
The move comes as a big relief to many Threads users, who have long expressed frustration over the lack of a mobile web version. Until now, navigating to a specific user’s profile was possible manually, but browsing feeds, sending, replying or even logging in from browsers remained difficult.
Originally launched as a mobile platform, Threads quickly gained millions of users and even surpassed ChatGPT in popularity. However, interest waned, leading to lower engagement and user abandonment of the app.
After acknowledging the bill, both Mark Zuckerberg and Adam Mosser had promised a mobile web version for Threads. Mosseri previously revealed that the team addressed some bugs to improve the user experience.
Meta’s strategic move
A key factor contributing to user churn on Meta’s platforms, including Threads, was the demand for additional features. Unlike established social media giants such as Facebook, Twitter or Instagram, Threads was limited to desktop viewing only.
To combat this, Meta announced a series of improvements to help retain users. One of the highlights is the ability to use the Threads app on both PC and mobile devices.
With the long-awaited web version now available, users are eager to see what additional features Threads integrates. Complaints about the lack of content search, which limits users to searching for other users rather than specific posts or hashtags, have been widespread.
As Threads evolves, users expect these missing elements to be addressed to enrich the overall user experience, mirroring the content discovery capabilities of platforms like Instagram and X.
