US tech giant Google is reportedly developing artificial intelligence-based technology for its Chrome web browser. In the “Advanced” (AI) section of the Chrome Settings page, there is a new option called “Context Menu Tab Group”. This option allows users to enable or disable the “Organize Tabs” feature.
According to a message published on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), a user named Leopeva64 mentioned that the development of the new settings panel is currently underway. This settings menu is only available to certain testers and users need to scroll through hidden developer flags to access it.

“Google is adding a new ‘Advanced’ section to Chrome’s settings page where you can enable or disable the new ‘Type’ and ‘Organize Tabs’ features, so far the only option added is ‘Autofill Assistant’ ( Type ),” user wrote in X .
The X post spotted by Gadgetsnow also has a video showing that the new settings section is still in development and far from finished.
The tab organizing feature is expected to be included in the settings panel, which Google is currently testing. In previous cases, this feature was spotted in development as part of the chevron UI for the Search tab.
Once this feature is enabled, Chrome users will likely see an “organize tabs” button after opening a certain number of tabs. The button is expected to appear automatically in the settings section to facilitate users by automatically sorting the tabs.
Previous reports didn’t specify whether this feature is AI-enabled, but if it’s part of the AI settings, it’s supposed to be driven by a machine learning algorithm, according to the report.
