WhatsApp Could Introduce Functionality To Create Group Chat Occasions
The popular instant messaging application WhatsApp is reportedly developing a new feature for creating group chat events. This feature allows WhatsApp users to create events with a specific name and choose when they want to be notified about the conversation.
“Thanks to the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.21.12 update available on the Google Play Store, we discovered that WhatsApp is working on a new chat event feature,” WABetaInfo, a website that follows WhatsApp, reported.
According to the report, there is a new function in the chat sharing menu that includes a shortcut for events for a future update of the app. This feature allows users to create events with a specific name and choose when they want to be notified of the conversation.
This can be especially useful when planning and coordinating various activities in group discussions or simply staying organized with personal reminders. According to the report, these messaging events are end-to-end encrypted, meaning only people in the conversation can check them.
Additionally, this feature currently appears to be limited to community group chats. Once an event is created, it is automatically added to the conversation, and everyone needs to update WhatsApp to the latest version to see and accept the new group invite event, according to the report.
The report suggested that this feature would allow users to easily plan and coordinate events directly in their chats.
In the group chat, it is possible to create an event with all the essential information, such as the name of the event, date, time and location. The feature to create group chat events is under development and will be available in a future update of the app.
In related news, WhatsApp is also rolling out a feature that lets you search, follow channels for everyone, and share broadcast updates with your followers.
