WhatsApp To Introduce Profile Icons For Group Chats
According to reports, WhatsApp, the widely used instant messaging app owned by Meta, is preparing to introduce a new feature that will allow users to add profile pictures to group conversations.
This feature makes profile icons visible in a group chat, making it easier to distinguish users from other participants in the group.
“Thanks to the latest WhatsApp beta update for Android 2.23.12.7 available on the Google Play Store, the feature is available to some beta testers,” WABetaInfo said.
Because this feature adds profile icons to group chats, you’ll need to open the group chat to see if the feature is available again on your account. The feature is designed to help users identify group members more easily, and it also allows for quick differentiation between different members using their profile icons, the report said.
According to the report, the profile icon proves particularly useful when group members have similar names or have not set a profile picture. In this case, if a member of the group does not have a profile picture or chooses to hide it, WhatsApp will display an empty default profile picture with a color corresponding to the corresponding contact’s name for better identification.
The feature that adds profile icons to group chats is once again available to some beta testers after the latest WhatsApp beta update for Android is installed from the Google Play Store. Note that this feature is still available for some users, so it might not be available on your WhatsApp account, but WAbetaInfo has confirmed that it will be rolling out to more users in the coming weeks.
