WhatsApp Introduces New Option for Instant Video Messaging
WhatsApp update: After recently announcing a new instant messaging feature for iOS and Android devices, the popular instant messaging platform WhatsApp is rolling out a new switch in the app’s settings to give you better control over this feature.
“WhatsApp is constantly working on new video messaging improvements. Specifically, after installing the latest WhatsApp beta for iOS 23.18.1.70 from TestFlight and WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.18.21 from the Google Play Store, some beta testers may notice the new option directly from the app’s settings,” WABetaInfo reported.
A screenshot shared by WABetaInfo revealed that it is now possible to control the ability to share instant messages. Previously, it was not possible to disable this feature as it was enabled by default. Thanks to a new switch, users now have control over this feature and can disable it if they want.
The report suggested that enabling this switch may be good for certain users, as some users prefer to use voice notes instead of instant video messages. With this switch, the Meta-owned app offers users the option to disable this feature entirely, while still ensuring that they can still receive video messages.
“Even if you don’t intend to turn off video messaging, it’s a good idea to look at this switch, as some users have reported finding it turned off even though they’ve sent video messages in the past,” it noted.
The instant messaging feature control switch is available to some beta testers who install the latest update from WhatsApp beta for Android Google Play Store and WhatsApp beta for iOS TestFlight, and it’s rolling out to more users in the coming days.
Meanwhile, the instant messaging app is also testing a new multi-account feature that aims to meet long-standing user requests to allow them to add a different account to the same device without parallel or cloned apps.
The Meta-owned app also introduces a redesigned settings interface that offers a more modern experience for browsing the different options of the instant messaging app.
