WhatsApp Introducing Functionality To Allow Users To Add People To Existing Groups
According to reports, WhatsApp, the instant messaging platform owned by Meta, is set to introduce a feature that allows users to add participants to new groups directly from the group chat. This feature serves as a convenient shortcut, eliminating the need for users to access the group info in order to add a new member.
According to WABetaInfo, a website that tracks WhatsApp, a new banner may appear in group chats inviting people to add new participants to the group. In the group chat, it is possible to quickly select new people to join the group, as long as the group’s access rights allow it.
“After installing the latest WhatsApp beta for iOS 23.15.1.77 update available on TestFlight, a limited number of beta testers may be able to try the same feature,” WABetaInfo reported.
The feature is useful because it speeds up the process of adding new group members, saving users time. In particular, existing group members can add other people directly without navigating the group information screen. The best thing about this feature is that it reminds users to add new group members, which serves as a helpful reminder.
The feature to add participants directly to a group chat is available to some beta testers who installed the latest WhatsApp beta update for iOS from the TestFlight app, and will roll out to more people in the coming days.
Meanwhile, WhatsApp also implements security tools when receiving messages from unknown phone numbers. It displays a new screen when the user first receives a message from an unknown phone number. With the new security tools screen, WhatsApp aims to explain what users can do when they receive such messages. They can also block unknown contacts or report them to the monitoring team.
This feature is especially useful when dealing with messages from unknown contacts and the “read receipts” option is enabled.
