WhatsApp Unveils 5 Upcoming Features: Chat Attachment Menu, Secret Code & More
In good news for WhatsApp users, the popular instant messaging platform owned by Meta is reportedly rolling out several new features to make its app more user-friendly.
It includes a passcode feature for locked chats, a search feature for the Updates tab, a pinned messages feature and a redesigned chat attachment menu, and a privacy feature that protects the IP address in calls.
According to a report by WABetaInfo, these new features are already available to beta testers and will roll out to regular users in the coming weeks.
Here’s everything you need to know about WhatsApp’s upcoming features
1. Secret code feature
The Meta-owned app is developing a passcode feature for locked chats. The feature is different from the phone’s master password and gives users more control over their locked conversations.
This enhancement improves the privacy of your conversations even if someone gets access to your phone. Locked conversations are always listed in a separate section that can only be accessed with your phone’s PIN code or biometric authentication.
2. Check for updates tab
A search button can now be available in the top app bar, allowing you to search for status updates, followed channels, and even other confirmed channels.
3. Pinned Messages feature
Soon, WhatsApp users will be able to highlight a message by pinning it to the top of their chats, making it easier for other people to access important or frequently referenced messages.
4. Redesigned chat attachment menu
Users get a renewed chat attachment menu with a new modern style. The updated menu still has the process of sharing different types of content, but it’s now clearer and more intuitive thanks to the latest tweaks.
5. Privacy feature to protect IP address in calls.
This feature allows users to try an extra level of security when making voice and video calls, as WhatsApp makes it difficult for other people to get your IP address.
