WhatsApp Unveils Search Functionality For Updates Tab: Get the Details

Meta-owned instant messaging platform WhatsApp is known to be introducing a new search feature for the Updates tab, which will allow you to search for status updates and channels within the app.

“The feature was developed in previous versions of the app, but thanks to the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.21.7 update available on the Google Play Store, we found that WhatsApp is finally releasing this feature to some beta testers,” WABetaInfo reported.

According to the report, a search button may now be available in the top app bar, allowing you to search for status updates, followed channels, and even other confirmed channels.

To find out if this feature is available on your account, close the app twice after updating it from the Google Play Store, as this action may force the search button to appear on the Updates tab.

The report suggested that this feature is very useful because searching for status updates shared by a specific contact in the new Updates tab was very complicated, which definitely made the user experience worse.

With the app’s latest update, the Meta-owned app re-introduces the search feature for status updates, along with important improvements that allow users to quickly search for followed channels and other confirmed channels without opening the directory.

The search function in the Updates tab is now available to select beta testers who have installed the latest WhatsApp beta version for Android from the Google Play Store. It will gradually become available to a wider audience in the coming days.

In related news, WhatsApp is also rolling out a pinned messages feature and a revamped chat attachment menu for users. Soon, users will be able to highlight a message by pinning it to the top of their chat conversations, making it easier for other people to access important or frequently referenced messages.
