WhatsApp could be the next messaging app to have this feature after iMessage and Telegram.News

WhatsApp users will soon get an Edit Text option to fix typos in chats

Apple and Telegram are some of the messaging apps that allow you to edit conversations even after sending. WhatsApp is probably the only platform that doesn’t offer this feature yet, but that could change very soon. WhatsApp iPhone users are getting a new beta version this week that includes the ability to edit. WhatsApp plans to bring the editing option to both Android and iOS versions, but so far it is not possible to give a timetable for its release.

WhatsApp chat option: How it works

So how does WhatsApp provide this editing feature to users? According to information provided by WABetainfo, the messaging app has a 15-minute window, until which a person can edit the messages they send.

Unlike Twitter, which gives users a detailed history of edited tweets, WhatsApp only tells you that the text has been edited and that there is a sticker at the top of the message. The editing feature is limited to chats and users cannot use the tool to edit images, documents or video text.

The absence of an edit option means that WhatsApp users who send a text with a typo will have to delete the entire chat. But this upcoming option means you can edit the text. It will be interesting to see if WhatsApp puts a limit on the number of edits a user can make within the 15 minute timeline.

While the editing feature is useful, it’s easy to see why many people want a schedule feature for WhatsApp as well. Granted, WhatsApp isn’t an email client that needs this option, but imagine if you could schedule work texts or other important messages like birthday wishes, WhatsApp could become even more popular with such use cases.
