Xiaomi is expanding its footprint in India with wireless audio products in partnership with Optiemus
NEW DELHI/BENGALURU: Xiaomi Corp.’s Indian arm will begin manufacturing wireless audio products in the country in partnership with electronics maker Optiemus, the company said on Monday, in an effort to localize its operations.
Xiaomi India will manufacture its first domestic audio device at its Optiemus Electronics plant in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh, the company said in a statement, stressing that it aims to increase production of locally sourced components by 50 percent by 2025.
This push comes as the maker of the Redmi smartphone brand recently lost out to South Korean rival Samsung as the top smartphone company in India.
