Zuckerberg Predicts Generative AI Will Be Integrated Into All Facebook Products
Meta’s plans for generative AI are becoming clearer. Despite not having implemented many generative AI features yet, Mark Zuckerberg has expressed his desire for Meta to be recognized as a leading player in this field.
Now Axios reports that Zuckerberg detailed some of Meta’s plans at a company-wide meeting this week. The CEO is said to have told employees about some of the ways Meta plans to put generative AI into “every one of our products.”
Planned features include AI “agents” for WhatsApp and Messenger, which Zuckerberg has previously discussed. And while Axios reports that WhatsApp and Messenger could be the first to get the feature, app researcher Alessandro Paluzzi spotted an early version of an AI chatbot in the Instagram app this week. The screenshots he shared showed that the app can have up to 30 different “personalities”.
Also in the works, according to Axios: generative AI image processing on Instagram. The feature would apparently allow users to edit their photos with text prompts and then share the photos back to their story. Zuckerberg has also recently discussed – during the company’s latest earnings call – post creation tools for Facebook as well as the platform’s advertisers.
It’s still unclear how soon some of these features might roll out, but it seems like Zuckerberg hopes to see them sooner rather than later. The company is also hoping that employees will come up with ideas for its creative new AI features and will reportedly host an internal hackathon to inspire new ideas.
