Over 72 Lakh WhatsApp Accounts Blocked in India During July 2023
WhatsApp banned over 72,000,000 bad accounts in India in July under new IT rules 2021.
1.–31. As of July, “72,28,000 WhatsApp accounts were blocked. 31,08,000 of these accounts were proactively blocked before users reported,” WhatsApp said in its monthly compliance report.
The most popular messaging platform, which has more than 500 million users in the country, received a record 11,067 complaints in the country in July, with 72 “actions”.
“Accounts Actioned” means reports where WhatsApp took corrective action based on the report, and taking action means either banning the account or reinstating a previously banned account as a result.
“This user safety report includes information on user complaints received and the corresponding actions taken by WhatsApp, as well as WhatsApp’s own preventive measures to combat abuse on our platform,” according to the company.
In addition, the company mentioned that from 1.7.-31.7. there were five orders received and also five orders followed.
