WhatsApp Brings Back Popular Feature For Android Users
The popular instant messaging platform WhatsApp is reportedly introducing a feature that lets you switch between tabs again. With this interface, the Meta-owned app aims to better align the app with the latest Material Design 3 standards, providing users with the best modern interface.
According to WABetaInfo, a website that tracks WhatsApp, the feature that allows users to switch to another tab with a swipe gesture may finally be available again after the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.19.10 update is installed from the Google Play Store.
“Previously, this feature was removed because it doesn’t comply with Material Design 3 guidelines. However, it seems that WhatsApp started to re-enable this feature, likely to get more feedback,” the report said.
According to the report, the ability to swipe between tabs is still against Material Design 3 guidelines. With the latest updates, WhatsApp is developing the app to align it with the Material Design 3 standard. However, based on previous updates to the app, it seems that WhatsApp still plans to allow users to use the tab swipe feature, even if it violates the guidelines.
The feature to swipe between tabs is available to a limited number of beta testers who install the latest WhatsApp beta for Android update from the Google Play Store, and may roll out to more people in the coming weeks.
Meanwhile, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg on Wednesday announced the launch of WhatsApp channels in India and over 150 countries. According to the instant messaging app, WhatsApp Channels is a one-way broadcast tool that provides a private way to receive updates from individuals and organizations on WhatsApp.
According to the company, WhatsApp aims to use Channels to build the most private messaging service available. Channels are separate from your conversations, and other Followers won’t see who you choose to follow. The application also protects the personal information of both administrators and followers.
