WhatsApp Offers Feature to Simultaneously Connect with up to 31 People in Group Calls
WhatsApp will soon bring the ability to start group calls for up to 31 people, WABetaInfo has reported. This update is currently rolling out to beta users, with wider availability expected in the coming weeks.
This update is currently available for WhatsApp beta users who have installed Android version 2.23.19.16. In addition to this 31-person group calling feature, WhatsApp is now also introducing a revised interface for the calls tab.
“WhatsApp added some minor tweaks to the calls tab. Specifically, call links are no longer mentioned on this screen, which now only says that it’s possible to call one or more contacts,” WABetaInfo reported.
This update specifically focuses on connecting a large group quickly and conveniently – with just a few taps. And while Meta-owned WhatsApp previously allowed group calls of up to 32 participants, users were limited to just 15 contacts when starting such a call.
“Users can now start large group calls instantly by picking up to 32 people, including the caller who started the call, removing a previous limitation that could feel restrictive in some situations and cause confusion for users,” WABetaInfo said.
When will it come out
As we mentioned, the update is currently only available to WhatsApp beta users who install version 2.23.19.16 via the Google Play Store, but it’s expected to roll out to more users in the coming weeks.
