India Launches AI-Powered App to Block Spam Messages
McAfee has launched AI-powered fraud protection to help Indian consumers detect and prevent fraud in real-time.
McAfee Scam Protection’s AI technology detects and protects against dangerous links and works on Android, iOS, Chrome, Safari, Microsoft Edge and Firefox. Text alerts are currently only available to all Android users, with improvements coming to iOS in October.
McAfee Scam Protection is available as part of a free seven-day trial of McAfee Mobile Security. After the trial period, it can be purchased as a monthly or annual subscription.
“McAfee Scam Protection combines advanced AI with the best human threat intelligence to proactively identify and block fake emails, text messages and social media links, so you can go about your day without worry,” McAfee CEO Greg Johnson said in a statement.
As cybercriminals today use artificial intelligence to create more convincing, more personalized scams at scale, the company said its McAfee Scam Protection proactively detects and prevents consumers from being scammed.
For example, whether a delivery message or bank notification text is genuine or not, McAfee’s patented artificial intelligence technology detects malicious links in real time and warns users before they click by sending an alert message. Even if a user accidentally clicks on a malicious link, McAfee Scam Protection prevents the site from loading.
“Today, cybercriminals are using AI to dramatically improve the accuracy, sophistication and speed of attack, making it even harder to tell the real from the fake. That’s why we all need the most advanced, innovative AI working for us, protecting us proactively, in real time, before we even know we’ve been targeted.” Johnson said.
