Apple’s plans for 2024 and beyond: Vision Pro, Apple GPT, AirPods 4, and other innovations
Apple had a significant year in 2023, as they introduced several notable devices. In June, the renowned tech company from Cupertino launched their first-ever spatial computer, known as Apple Vision Pro. This innovative device aims to seamlessly merge the digital and real world. Additionally, Apple also unveiled the latest MacBooks during this time. Just a few months later, the iPhone 15 series was introduced, featuring Dynamic Island across all four models. Furthermore, Apple introduced their next-generation Apple Silicon chipset, the M3. These devices represent the latest technological advancements that Apple brought forth in 2023. Looking ahead to 2024, Apple is expected to introduce several more developments, including Apple GPT, the release of Vision Pro, AirPods 4, and more.
1. Apple Vision Pro
Apple’s first mixed reality headset includes a unique spatial computing capability that allows users to experience apps and features in an augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) environment. Although it was first introduced in June 2023, Apple is said to be finally gearing up for the launch in January, with Apple Store employees receiving training on the same.
2. Apple GPT
Earlier this year, it was reported that Apple had developed an internal service similar to ChatGPT that would help employees test new features, summarize text and answer questions based on what they learned. Mark Gurman claimed in July that Apple is working on its own AI model. The heart of this Large Language Model (LLM) work is a new framework called Ajax. An application similar to ChatGPT, nicknamed “Apple GPT”, is just one of the many possibilities that the Ajax framework can provide.
3. Apple Watch Series 10
While Apple already launched two new smartwatches – the Apple Watch Series 9 and the Watch Ultra 2 at its Wonderlust event, it is also said to be developing a special smartwatch to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Apple Watch. Called the Apple Watch X or Series 10, the smartwatch might be the biggest update to the Apple Watch yet. It could get features like a MicroLED display, a blood pressure monitor and a magnetic strap attachment system.
4. New iPads
It is said that Apple will soon introduce new iPads, some of which could have an M3 chip. Mark Gurman suggests that at least two iPads could get major updates soon, with the iPad Pro and iPad Air being the devices. The iPad Pro could get an OLED display, an updated design, and an M3 chip. Meanwhile, the iPad Air could benefit from an M2 processor and will likely come out in two sizes – 10.9-inch and 12.9-inch. However, it is still slightly smaller than the 11-inch and 13-inch iPad Pro.
5. AirPods 4
Apple is preparing to release the next generation of AirPods, widely known as the Apple AirPods 4, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. Two versions of Apple AirPods 4 are announced, each of which replaces both AirPods 3 and the cheaper AirPods 2 in different price ranges. AirPods 4 have a redesigned design that resembles a combination of the current AirPods and AirPods Pro, with shorter arms. AirPods 4’s redesigned case includes built-in speakers for Find My alerts and a USB-C charging port that replaces the previous Lightning port. In addition, the premium version of AirPods 4 has Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), which was previously an exclusive premium feature for AirPods Pro.
