Anticipated Announcements at Samsung Galaxy Unpacked: Galaxy S24 Series and Galaxy AI
Samsung is preparing for the highly anticipated launch of its flagship Galaxy S24 series at the upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event on January 17. Unlike the previous event held in South Korea, Samsung has chosen San Jose, California as the venue for this event. While the main focus is expected to be on the new Samsung Galaxy S24 series, there are rumors suggesting that there will be other exciting announcements as well. Leaks indicate that Samsung will unveil significant advancements in AI with Galaxy AI, and there is also a possibility of the introduction of the Galaxy Ring. Stay tuned for all the anticipated announcements at the Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event.
1. Samsung Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24 Plus
According to specifications leaked by WinFuture, the vanilla Galaxy S24 models may have a big feature that was previously exclusive to the high-end Ultra smartphone – a 1Hz refresh rate. The color options are black, marble gray, cobalt purple and amber yellow. Some rumors have mentioned that the two smartphones will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset in the US, while in other regions it will come with the Exynos 2400 SOC. Another rumor says that the basic model and the Plus model may have an optimized version of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 instead.
According to the leaks, the Samsung Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24 Plus will feature a triple camera system with 50 MP + 10 MP + 12 MP cameras. The two phones may also feature a new battery design rumored to be called stacked batteries. It offers better energy density without the size.
2. Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra
The rumor claims that the upcoming flagship smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, may have a titanium body that matches the build quality of the rivals iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. The flagship phone might be available in four different colors – Titanium Black, Titanium Grey, Titanium Violet and Titanium Yellow. In addition to that, it can have a flatter 6.8-inch QHD+ display with a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz. The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra is also likely to get the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, which would significantly improve its performance.
In addition to this, the four rear cameras could include a 200-megapixel primary shooter, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens, a 10-megapixel 3x zoom lens, and a 50-megapixel 5x periscope lens. The smartphone can also have 12GB of RAM for all its storage variants. When connected, it may have Wi-Fi 7 and Ultra Wide Band (UWB).
3. Galaxy AI
Samsung is teased to introduce new Galaxy AI features with the Galaxy S24 series, which means we might see new features that will give tough competition to the Apple iPhone 15 series and Google Pixel 8 series.
Samsung described it as a “comprehensive mobile AI experience” based on both on-device AI developed by Samsung and cloud-based AI made possible through the company’s various open collaboration projects. This likely means that the technology will be built for smartphones, with both on-device AI. Galaxy AI also brings an AI Live Translate Call feature that gives users a personal translator. This means that the smartphone has voice and text translations in real time.
4. Galaxy Ring
Samsung may unveil new wearable technology in the form of a smart ring that will allow users to track their fitness just like a smartwatch. The original patent filings refer to high-end health monitoring features that include ECG and PPG sensors for heart rate and temperature monitoring, matching competitors like the Oura Ring 3.
Please note that all information is based on unofficial reports and should be taken with a grain of salt until official confirmation comes from Samsung, which is expected to arrive during tomorrow’s Galaxy Unpacked event.
