Unfortunate Incident for Man Involving iPhone 14 Pro Max
A furniture business owner, aged 23, was scammed online through a lucky draw for the iPhone 14 Pro Max and a lottery worth Rs. 36 lakh. The scam resulted in him losing a staggering amount of Rs. 4.26 lakh in around 34 transactions.
The victim had kept the money in a bank account for her sister’s wedding when she received a WhatsApp message saying she had won a lucky draw organized by an e-commerce store. According to the post, his package, which contained the iPhone 14 Pro Max, had been created. He trusted the message and contacted the given WhatsApp number.
The scammers behind the scam told him to pay taxes to claim the prize. For some reason, the victim believed their false claims and actually made 34 transactions totaling Rs. 4.26 lakh by May 26.
The victim realized that he had been cheated when he did not receive the promised reward, so he turned to the police.
