Startup That Specializes in Note-Taking Downsizes Workforce: Get the Details

The majority of Evernote’s workforce has been let go, and from now on, a team located in Europe will take over the responsibility of managing the Evernote product.

The Italian parent company Bending Spoons is moving most of Evernote’s operations to Europe.

Evernote was acquired by Bending Spoons in November of last year.

Evernote said the move is to “streamline operations and make the most of the Bending Spoons employer brand, which is very strong in Europe”. Most of the company’s employees in Chile and the United States have been laid off.

“We are committed to supporting those involved with a significant severance package. In most cases, this package includes 16 weeks’ salary, up to one year of health insurance coverage and a performance bonus paid pro-rata as if year-end performance targets had already been met,” CEO Francesco Patarnello said in a statement.

The company also said it will offer additional support to those in need, such as those affected with visas.

Earlier, the company dismissed 129 employees in February this year.

Evernote became one of the first popular note-taking apps when it was released in 2008.

The company said the dedicated and growing team based in Europe “is ideally positioned to leverage the broad expertise and strength of Bending Spoons’ workforce of more than 400, many of whom have worked at Evernote full-time since the acquisition.”.
