Samsung May Unveil Galaxy Smart Ring

Samsung may be expanding its Galaxy Wearable lineup with the introduction of a new device. Currently offering smartwatches and TWS earbuds, the company is now rumored to be developing a Galaxy Ring for potential buyers. Notably, Samsung had obtained a patent for a smart ring in 2015, indicating its long-standing interest in this type of product. Recent app code suggests that this aspiration may soon materialize into an actual product.

In fact, the company has reportedly trademarked the Galaxy Ring name, which is hardly surprising considering that all Samsung products fall under the Galaxy brand name.

The patent for the device explained that the smart ring allows you to control smart home devices, dim lights and other functions simply by twisting the ring around your wrist. The patent was filed sometime ago, and since we didn’t hear much about it for years, we thought the product would never come out. But new developments suggest otherwise.

A Reddit user has spotted the Galaxy Ring in the Samsung Health Beta app this week. And since the device is mentioned on the Health platform, it’s likely that Samsung could improve the features of the rumored Galaxy Ring and offer health tracking on the device as well. Rings have become the latest sensation in the health segment, and many startups are developing products in this format.

Samsung also brings the Ring device with it, so that the segment could really develop and become a serious entity in the market. The company is already showing off its new foldables at a launch event in Seoul later this month, where we’re even expecting the Galaxy Watch 6 to be unveiled, so why not just end that excitement and bring the Galaxy Ring to the same event.
