Boat Unveils ‘Smart Ring’ in India to Monitor Fitness, Sleep, and Temperature
Boat, a renowned brand in India, has introduced a new addition to its range of wearable devices called the Boat Smart Ring. This innovative device marks the brand’s initial venture into this particular market segment. As the name implies, the Boat Smart Ring enables users to monitor their health and fitness data simply by wearing it on their finger.
Crafted from ceramic and metal, the ring is designed to look and feel premium, but also offers health monitoring features such as heart rate monitoring, SpO2 monitoring, and sleep tracking. In addition, the ring has a temperature sensor for monitoring body temperature and offers basic smartwatch features such as step tracking.
Women’s smart ring also has the option to monitor and predict their menstrual cycle.
In addition, the smart tire is said to be water-resistant to a pressure of 5 ATM and sweat-resistant, so it is theoretically suitable for swimming or working out.
Boat Smart Ring: Availability and Price
The price and release date of the Boat Smart Ring is currently unknown, but it will be available on most e-commerce platforms, including Amazon, Flipkart and Boat’s own online store.
Samsung may be developing its own smart ring
The launch of the Boat Smart Ring comes just a day after Samsung was revealed to be working on its own smart ring, the Galaxy Ring. This suggests that smart rings may soon become mainstream. According to a report from The Elec, Samsung has already started development on the alleged smart Galaxy Ring, but Samsung will likely take a call on whether it plans to “mass produce the rings” only after it evaluates the prototypes.
Smart tires are already a reality, as products such as the Oura tire and the McClear tire are already available for condition monitoring and payments. It will be interesting to see an Indian company enter this market and perhaps make the technology available at a lower cost.
