Samsung Launches Android 14 Beta Update For Select Devices
Samsung is entering the market focusing on the latest version of Android 14 for its Galaxy smartphones. The company is bringing the One UI 6 beta program to South Korea, the United States, and Germany, giving them an early look at the new version.
According to reports, Samsung will offer Android 14 beta for the new Galaxy S23 models, which includes vanilla, Plus and Ultra versions.
The company also wants to use the optimized nature of Android 14 to bring it to its tablet lineup in the coming months. The details aren’t official yet, but one of Samsung’s newsrooms accidentally leaked the information, which was later deleted this week.
Samsung has become very efficient with its software support in recent years. Now you get at least 3 years of operating system updates for mid-priced and premium models. One UI is one of the most popular options in the Android market, competing with the likes of Pixel UI, ColorOS UI and the new versions of Nothing OS. Android 14 isn’t a massive upgrade over the last version, but Google seems focused on making incremental changes that will further refine the software.
Samsung’s take on Android 14 will be heavily customized through a single interface, and in terms of features, the company is likely to have a new camera widget that lets you decide where the photos you click are saved.
The new Android 14 beta for premium phones doesn’t come as a surprise, but we hope the software has fewer bugs that could allow the company to roll it out more quickly.
Google is also getting Android 14 ready with the Pixel 8 series, which should be released in the next few months as per the usual schedule. The company is expected to showcase the Pixel Watch 2 at the event, which according to reports may launch in India as well.
