CEO Yaccarino Announces Video Calling Feature Coming to X
Linda Yaccarino, CEO of the popular microblogging platform X (formerly Twitter), recently said that the company will soon bring video calling to its platform. This change is part of their goal to become an all-in-one app similar to China’s WeChat.
“You can make video chat calls without having to give your phone number to anyone on the platform,” X Corp CEO Linda Yaccarino told CNBC in an interview. “There is incredible business with our data licensing and API X. new subscription business is growing,” Yaccarino added.
He also discussed additional features such as extended videos and creator subscriptions. Yaccarino also mentioned future plans related to digital payments. X designer Andrea Conway also hinted with a tweet: “Just called someone at X.”
Regarding the fight between Musk vs. Meta Founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg, he said: “Let’s see if that cage match actually happens. I can say that I have been in the front row to witness Musk’s training.” Musk always wanted Twitter to become an “everything app” like China’s WeChat.
Musk-owned X is also working on a new feature that will allow users to sort messages on someone’s profile, according to an IANS report. Last week, the company announced that paid subscribers can choose to hide account checkmarks.
Recently, Elon Musk’s X started paying Indian content creators their share of ad revenue in the second tranche under the recently launched “ad revenue sharing program” for content creators. After receiving their share, several X users posted screenshots of the message they received from the platform.
Many content creators around the world also shared how much money they got from the microblogging platform through its new program. Creators were supposed to get their share of the ad for the week ending July 31, which the company suspended because it was inundated with requests for payment.
