Chandrayaan 3 Enters Circularisation Process
India’s moon mission, Chandrayaan 3, commenced on July 14 with the objective of achieving a successful landing on the Lunar surface. This marks the third mission by ISRO dedicated to studying the moon, and it has been developed incorporating the knowledge gained from the previous unsuccessful mission. Currently, the spacecraft is progressing well and has effectively entered the moon’s orbit. The anticipated date for the landing is August 24. Stay updated on the latest developments regarding Chandrayaan 3 and its proximity to the moon’s surface.
Chandrayaan 3 Updates
The Indian space research organization ISRO is closely monitoring the spacecraft. It is slowly approaching the surface of the moon, as on August 1st the spacecraft entered a translunar orbit. On August 5, Chandrayaan 3 entered lunar orbit and since then it has gradually moved forward and reduced its orbit in a series of maneuvers.
Earlier, on August 9, ISRO announced that the craft is close to the surface of the moon at 174 km x 1437 km. Today, August 14th, it was planned to do another movement reduction between 11:30 AM and 12:30 PM IST. The operation was successfully completed and the spacecraft is now even closer. According to a Mint report, the national space agency announced that the spacecraft has now achieved a “near-circular orbit” around the moon.
Now, the second orbit reduction is scheduled for August 16 at around 8:30 AM. With each big move, the spacecraft is getting closer to the moon and is ready to make history soon.
However, the Russian Luna-25 spacecraft, which flew on August 11, is on its way to the Moon on the same day as Chandrayaan 3. So far, no complications have been reported in the landing of both spacecraft. Chandrayaan 3’s mission is to stay on the moon for 1 lunar day (14 Earth days) and Luna-25 will explore the moon for a whole year.
