Android 14 Launch Postponed, Could Arrive Alongside Pixel 8 Series in October
The release of Android 14 seems to have been pushed to next month, and according to reports, Google could bring the new version with the Pixel 8 series at the launch event on October 4. The Android 14 beta has been around for a while, and many are expecting the stable version to roll out to eligible devices sometime this month.
But Google has delayed the release of the Android 14 source code, allowing other phone brands to start building their own flavors of Android 14. Less than a month after the launch of the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro, it’s possible that Google will use the platform to announce Android 14 for smartphones.
This is the first time that a new version of Android is released on the same day as the new Pixel phones. Android 14 got a head start earlier this year when the first developer beta was released early, indicating that Google might be gearing up for an earlier-than-expected public release.
But since then, Android 14 betas have been going through their usual process, which seems to have hit roadblocks, forcing Google to halt the rollout this month. Brands like OnePlus confirmed that their stable version of Android 14 will be offered this month, so it remains to be seen if OnePlus can stay on schedule after these new developments.
However, none of the details given in the report are official, so it’s possible that Google will quash these rumors and manage to release the public version of Android 14 this month before the new Pixel 8 phones are officially announced.
Android 14’s user interface is unlikely to see major changes compared to the previous version. It will continue to focus on privacy and user security with new tools to help people feel safe when using their Android phone. The Pixel 8 series will be released on the 4th. October at an in-person event in New York, where we’ll also get to see the Pixel Watch 2. All the three products are expected to launch in India.
