Apple Gears Up for Revolutionary WWDC 2023: Mixed Reality Headset and Innovative Features Take Center Stage
The upcoming Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) is expected to be a major event for Apple, as it may finally reveal its long-rumored mixed reality headset. This move would mark the company’s entry into a new product category and provide investors with a glimpse of its efforts to promote virtual reality as a worthwhile investment.
Undoubtedly, there will also be a lot: operating system updates, new features and apps, and maybe even new devices. Details on how and when to watch the WWDC keynote, as well as some of the announcements to expect from Apple, are rounded up here.
According to The Verge, Apple has confirmed that the year’s WWDC keynote will take place on Monday, June 5 at 1pm EST / 10am PT. It will be held as a digital and in-person event at Apple Park in Cupertino, California, where Apple CEO Tim Cook is expected to kick things off. You can check out the full WWDC lineup here.
Apple will broadcast the WWDC Keynote live on its website and YouTube channel. If you can’t watch the keynote live, you can always tune in to a pre-recorded version that Apple will post to YouTube after the broadcast.
After that, let’s get into some of the biggest announcements we expect Apple to make during WWDC.
Without a doubt, Apple’s mixed reality headset is one of the most interesting new offerings in recent memory. Apple has yet to confirm its existence, but rumor has it that it will be able to offer both augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) experiences.
Apparently called Reality Pro, the developer-specific headset is expected to sport a “ski goggle” look with a physical dial that lets you adjust virtual reality in and out, reports The Verge.
The headphones are likely to be a self-contained unit with a battery attached via a special cable. It is said to have an M2 chip with 16GB of RAM, according to the specs. According to supply chain analyst Ross Young, the gadget could feature two 1.41-inch Micro OLED panels with 4,000 (ppi) each.
Young adds that the displays are capable of producing more than 5,000 nits of brightness, and that users should be able to see 4K resolution in each eye, according to The Verge.
According to reports, Apple is hard at work creating VR versions of some of its original apps, including Safari, FaceTime, Apple TV, Apple Books, Freeform, and more. Additionally, it may have a feature that allows the headset to act as an external display for your Mac. The Apple Headset is expected to cost close to $3,000, so it’s not cheap. In this year’s presentation, we probably won’t see cheaper variants of the device, despite the fact that Apple is also working on it.
There are already indications that Apple may be planning to unveil its “Reality Pro” headset at WWDC, with the company extending an invitation to the editor of virtual reality store UploadVR. Apple also released an augmented reality teaser on its site that shows a thin, filmy Apple logo with the WWDC date wherever you point your iPhone or iPad’s camera.
According to The Verge, WWDC is a developer event, which means we’re bound to see some updates for iOS, iPadOS, macOS, and more.
Premium products such as Apple’s all-new operating system, new MacBook Air and mixed reality (MR) headsets will be revealed during the five-day developer event.
Apple CEO Tim Cook’s keynote speech is the highlight of the event for developers.
The event starts on June 5 (Monday) at 22:30. (IST) for the Indian audience. The developer event ends on June 9. Favorite
